Collagen Explained: What It Is, Where It Comes From & Why It Matters
Collagen has become one of the biggest buzzwords in the beauty world. It’s added to coffees, smoothies, powders, capsules and, of course, gummies. But before you decide whether collagen belongs in your daily routine, it’s worth understanding one simple question: What actually is collagen? Let’s break it down. ⸻ What Is Collagen? Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. Think of it as your body’s natural scaffolding. It provides structure and strength to your: • Skin • Hair • Nails • Bones • Joints • Tendons • Ligaments • Blood vessels In fact, around 30% of all the protein in your body is collagen. Without it, your body simply wouldn’t have the same strength, flexibility or resilience. ⸻ Why Does Collagen Decline? Here’s the part most people don’t realise. From around your mid-20s, your body’s natural collagen production begins to slow down. As the years pass, you gradually produce less collagen than you once did. Other factors can speed up this decline, including: • UV exposure from the sun • Smoking • Poor nutrition • High sugar intake • Chronic stress • Natural ageing This gradual reduction contributes to changes we all notice over time, such as fine lines, reduced skin elasticity and changes in joint comfort. It’s a completely natural part of ageing. ⸻ Where Does Collagen Come From? Collagen supplements don’t come from plants. They come from animal sources that naturally contain collagen. The most common are: Marine Collagen Marine collagen is sourced from fish. It is rich in Type I collagen, the primary collagen found in skin, hair and bones. Because of this, marine collagen has become a popular choice for beauty supplements. Bovine Collagen Bovine collagen comes from cows. It primarily contains Type I and Type III collagen, both of which are naturally found throughout the body. Chicken Collagen Chicken collagen is naturally rich in Type II collagen, which is commonly associated with cartilage and joint health. Each source has different characteristics, but all provide collagen peptides that your body digests into amino acids. ⸻ What Are Collagen Peptides? This is where the science gets interesting. The collagen in supplements isn’t absorbed as one giant collagen molecule. Instead, it’s broken down into hydrolysed collagen peptides. These are smaller chains of amino acids that are easier for your body to digest and absorb. Once absorbed, your body uses these amino acids wherever they’re needed, including normal collagen-producing processes. ⸻ Why We Chose Marine Collagen At Goōe, we chose marine collagen peptides because they align with our beauty-first philosophy. Marine collagen is naturally rich in Type I collagen, the predominant collagen found in healthy skin. Combined with our Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies, it forms part of our philosophy: Structure First. Glow Second. Support your body with the nutrients involved in healthy hair, skin and nails first. Then add collagen as the next step in your beauty routine. ⸻ Collagen Isn’t Magic. It’s Biology. One of the biggest misconceptions online is that collagen instantly erases wrinkles. The truth is much more interesting. Your body is constantly breaking down and rebuilding proteins. Nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, sun protection and consistency all play a role in healthy skin. Collagen isn’t about chasing overnight transformation. It’s about supporting your body with the building blocks it uses every day. ⸻ Beauty Backed by Brains At Goōe, every ingredient starts with one question: Does the science support it? That means choosing quality ingredients, understanding how they work and helping you make informed decisions about your beauty routine. Because beauty should never rely on marketing alone. It should be backed by science. ⸻ The Bottom Line Collagen is the body’s most abundant protein and an essential part of healthy skin, bones, joints and connective tissues. As natural collagen production declines with age, many people choose to supplement as part of their long-term wellness routine. At Goōe, we believe collagen isn’t the beginning of the journey. It’s the next step. Structure First. Glow Second. Beauty Backed by Brains.
Learn moreBiotin for Hair Growth: Why It Matters (And Why Your Body Can’t Make It)
If you’ve ever searched for ways to reduce hair shedding or grow stronger hair, you’ve probably come across biotin. It’s one of the most talked-about vitamins in the beauty industry. But what exactly is it? Does it actually work? And if it’s so important… why doesn’t your body simply make it itself? Let’s break down the science. ⸻ First Things First… What Is Biotin? Biotin, also known as Vitamin B7, is a water-soluble B vitamin that plays an important role in helping your body convert food into energy. But that’s not why it’s become famous. Biotin is also involved in the production of keratin, the structural protein that makes up your hair, skin and nails. Think of keratin as the bricks that build your hair. Biotin helps your body produce those bricks efficiently. ⸻ Your Body Can’t Make Biotin Here’s something many people don’t know. Unlike some compounds your body can manufacture on its own, your body cannot produce biotin in the amounts it needs. That means you rely on obtaining it through your diet and, when appropriate, supplementation. Foods naturally rich in biotin include: • Eggs (particularly cooked eggs) • Salmon • Nuts • Seeds • Sweet potatoes • Mushrooms • Beef liver Even with a healthy diet, some people may still have increased biotin requirements or simply struggle to consume enough consistently. ⸻ Does Biotin Actually Help Hair Growth? Here’s where things get interesting. Biotin isn’t a magic ingredient that suddenly makes hair grow faster overnight. Instead, its role is to help support normal hair health by contributing to healthy keratin production. People who are biotin deficient can experience: • Hair thinning • Brittle nails • Dry skin • Increased hair shedding Correcting a deficiency often improves these symptoms. For people who already have adequate biotin levels, the evidence for dramatic additional hair growth is less clear. That’s why at Goōe, we believe in education before exaggeration. Science is always more powerful than hype. ⸻ Why Consistency Matters More Than Megadoses One of the biggest myths in the supplement industry is that more biotin equals more hair growth. Not necessarily. Your body doesn’t reward massive doses simply because they’re larger. What’s far more important is taking an appropriate amount consistently as part of your daily routine. Healthy hair grows slowly. Most people won’t notice meaningful changes in a week or two. Hair grows in cycles, and visible improvements often take several months of consistent nutrition and care. Beauty isn’t built overnight. It’s built daily. ⸻ Why We Chose Biotin When we formulated our Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies, biotin was never included because it was trendy. It was included because it has a well-understood biological role in supporting healthy hair. As someone with an Honours Degree in Human Genetics, I wanted every ingredient inside Goōe to earn its place. No fillers. No unnecessary megadoses. Just ingredients chosen because the science supports their role in healthy beauty from within. That’s what we mean when we say: Beauty Backed by Brains. ⸻ The Bottom Line Biotin isn’t magic. It isn’t an overnight solution. But it is an essential vitamin that helps your body maintain healthy hair by supporting normal keratin production. Your body can’t make enough of it on its own. That’s why getting enough through your diet, or through a thoughtfully formulated supplement, matters. At Goōe, we believe healthy beauty starts with understanding the science. Because when you understand why an ingredient works, you’re far more likely to choose products that truly deserve a place in your daily routine. Beauty Backed by Brains.
Learn moreCollagen vs Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies: Which Should You Take First?
If you’re trying to improve your hair, skin and nails, you’ve probably asked yourself one question: Should I start with collagen or a Hair, Skin & Nails supplement? It’s one of the most common questions we get. The answer might surprise you. At Goōe, we don’t believe beauty starts with collagen. We believe beauty starts with structure. ⸻ Think of It Like Building a House Imagine you’re building your dream home. Would you paint the walls before the foundations are poured? Of course not. You build the structure first. Only then do you focus on making it beautiful. Your body works in much the same way. Before it can create healthy, resilient hair and skin, it needs the vitamins and minerals that support normal cell function and keratin production. Only then does collagen become the perfect next step. ⸻ Step One: Build the Structure Our Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies were designed to provide nutrients that support your body’s natural beauty processes. They contain ingredients like: • Biotin, which contributes to the maintenance of normal hair. • Zinc, which contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and nails. • Vitamin C, which contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin. • Selenium, Vitamin D and Vitamin B6, all chosen because they play important roles in normal body function. This is your foundation. These nutrients help support the biological processes your body relies on every single day. ⸻ Step Two: Support Your Glow Once you’ve built that nutritional foundation, collagen becomes the perfect companion. Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body. It provides structure to your skin and is naturally present in connective tissues throughout the body. As we age, natural collagen production gradually declines. That’s where collagen supplementation may play a role as part of an overall beauty routine. Rather than choosing between the two, they work beautifully together. ⸻ Why We Recommend Hair, Skin & Nails First There’s a reason our philosophy has always been: Structure First. Glow Second. Hair doesn’t grow from collagen alone. Beautiful skin isn’t built from collagen alone. Your body needs vitamins, minerals and protein all working together. That’s why our recommended order is: Month One Build your nutritional foundation with Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies. Month Two Add Collagen Gummies to support your routine. From There Take both together as part of your daily beauty ritual. It’s a simple system based on supporting your body, not chasing quick fixes. ⸻ Science Before Marketing One of the biggest problems in the supplement industry is that products are often sold as miracle solutions. At Goōe, we prefer to explain the science. Does this ingredient have a purpose? If it didn’t, it didn’t make the formula. That’s why our approach has never been about following trends. It’s about building a beauty routine that makes biological sense. ⸻ The Bottom Line So… Collagen or Hair, Skin & Nails first? Our answer is simple. Hair, Skin & Nails first. Collagen second. Because lasting beauty starts with giving your body the nutrients it needs to build strong foundations before adding extra support. That’s the philosophy behind every Goōe product. Structure First. Glow Second. Beauty Backed by Brains.
Learn moreYou’re Probably Buying the Wrong Gummies (And You Don’t Even Know It)
Walk into any pharmacy and you’ll find shelves packed with colourful gummy vitamins. They all promise glowing skin, stronger hair and healthier nails. But here’s the question almost nobody is asking: How were those gummies actually made? Because the way a gummy is manufactured can make a huge difference to the nutrients inside it. At Goōe, we believe beautiful products should also be scientifically intelligent. That’s why our motto has always been: Beauty Backed by Brains. ⸻ The Hidden Problem With Many Gummies Most people compare gummies by flavour, price or how pretty the packaging looks. Very few people ask about the manufacturing process. Many traditional gummy supplements are exposed to higher temperatures during production. While heat is necessary to create a gummy, excessive heat can be harsh on certain vitamins and active ingredients. Some nutrients are naturally more sensitive than others. For example: • Vitamin C • Certain B Vitamins • Some botanical extracts • Various bioactive compounds Higher temperatures may reduce stability or require manufacturers to compensate during formulation. That doesn’t automatically make a product “bad,” but it does mean the manufacturing process matters. ⸻ Why Low Heat Technology Matters At Goōe, our gummies are manufactured using advanced low heat technology. Instead of exposing ingredients to unnecessary high temperatures, the process is carefully controlled to help protect delicate nutrients throughout production. Think about it this way. If you cooked fresh vegetables for hours, many of the nutrients would begin to break down. Supplements work in a similar way. The goal isn’t simply to make something edible. The goal is to preserve as much nutritional integrity as possible from start to finish. By using lower temperature manufacturing, we’re able to better protect ingredients that were carefully selected for their function. ⸻ Science Has Always Come First Before Goōe existed, I completed an Honours Degree in Human Genetics and worked in science. When I started creating Goōe, I wasn’t interested in making another trendy wellness product. I wanted to build something I could confidently stand behind. That meant asking questions like: • How stable are these ingredients? • What form of each nutrient is being used? • Is there research supporting the dosage? • Will the manufacturing process protect those ingredients? Every ingredient choice was made with one goal: Create products that are as intelligent as they are beautiful. ⸻ Beauty Isn’t About More Ingredients One of the biggest misconceptions in the supplement world is that more ingredients automatically mean a better product. They don’t. The right ingredients, in effective forms, protected throughout manufacturing, are far more important than an endless ingredient list. That’s why we focus on quality over quantity. Every ingredient needs a reason to be there. ⸻ Beauty Backed by Brains Wellness is full of marketing buzzwords. At Goōe, we’d rather talk about science. Our formulas are thoughtfully developed, our ingredients are carefully selected, and our manufacturing process is designed to respect the nutrients we’re putting inside every gummy. Because taking supplements should never be about guessing. It should be about making informed choices. ⸻ The Bottom Line The next time you’re comparing gummy supplements, don’t just ask: “What’s inside?” Also ask: “How was it made?” Because when it comes to nutrition, the manufacturing process matters just as much as the ingredient list. At Goōe, we believe science should never happen behind the scenes. That’s why every product we create is guided by one simple philosophy: Beauty Backed by Brains.

Learn morePills are Gross!
Dearest Goōe Gals, As like every January, last year I found myself diving head first into detoxes, cleanses and strict exercise regimes. Part of this process was to head to the shops and purchase every pill that I felt could benefit me somehow. It was aimless and there was no focus. What ended up happening is that I had to swallow about 12 pills every morning. Every morning it made me sick. And as you can imagine, it lasted all of two months before I just couldn’t anymore. I developed, (and yes this is a thing!!) PILL ANXIETY. I dreaded taking those pills every morning, and I became fearful of how it would make me feel. Naturally, I fell off the and wagon and I hardly took a pill for the rest of the year. The idea of Gooe was then born. We do not need to punish ourselves to be fit or healthy. I think its also really important to focus on your goals. Instead of going out to buy every pill that someone on Tik Tok tells you you need, rather listen to what your body needs and focus on that. So if what you are looking for is shiny hair, glowy skin and strong nails, then Gooe is for you. If you are looking for a product that is mindful and allows you the tools to slow down and listen to your body, then Gooe is for you. If pill anxiety is a thing for you and you are looking for a way to cut down on the amount of pills you take, then Gooe is for you. Be mindful of the journey. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. With love,Stash (Your Goōe Gal)
